This year's theme, "Breaking through to the C-suite" is both timely and provocative. Unprecedented change is taking place in the workforce with women making up an ever increasing percentage of the global talent pool. In fact, women have been outnumbering men in college degrees earned since the mid-eighties, and in 2010, women surpassed men in advanced degrees received. With innovations in technology allowing instant connectivity with people anywhere on the planet, access to this increasingly diverse talent pool is easier than ever before. Yet, despite substantial progress made on many fronts, the number of women who reach the upper echelons of organizations is still relatively small. What leadership lessons can we benefit from which will help shift this dynamic? How do organizations recognize and develop all of the talent within their midst and the value that comes along with doing that?
More and more organizations are realizing that it's a combination of concerted effort by the individual and by senior management as well as a supportive company culture that will advance women in the workplace in greater numbers. The companies that build and sustain diversity in their senior leadership will be more likely to avoid missteps, capture greater market opportunities and increase their competitive advantage.
This DB signature event is attended by over 2,000 professionals each year and is a clear demonstration of support for women in the financial services industry. Please join us for rich and provocative discussion on how individuals make it to the C-suite of large companies and organizations.
Speakers include Sharon Allen - outgoing Chairman of the Board of Deloitte; Katherine Garrett Cox - CEO of Alliance Trust and DB Supervisory Board Member; Ann Marie Petach - CFO of BlackRock: and Ilene H. Lang - CEO of Catalyst.
In lieu of gift bags this year, a donation will be presented by Roelfien Kuijpers, Global Head of DB Advisors, to the not for profit organization selected by conference attendees. The three organizations being considered are:
Girls Inc.
The White House Project
The Forté Foundation
